The tedSHED [timber education development SHED] was a hypothetical project designed by Tom in 2010 as his thesis for his part II degree. The building was a factory for the future, aimed at training construction skills whilst manufacturing components to pre-fabricate new houses. The building itself was constructed and detailed to be fully demountable, preserving the materials from which it was made for reuse in the future. The philosophy behind this project is still of great interest to Tom and he hopes to continue to develop the ideas on future projects. Please visit to download a copy of the design book Tom wrote explaining the project in detail.
